Woman, 20, Dies After Truck Hit Her While Crossing South Jersey Road: Police

A Franklin Township woman died a few days after she was struck while crossing a road in Malaga, authorities said.

Elishama Louis, 20, died from her injuries on Monday, Oct. 14, the Franklin Township Police Department said in a news release. She was hit on Delsea Drive near the Riggins and Wawa gas stations on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Officers responded to the crash at around 7:49 p.m. Police found Louis lying in the southbound lane of Delsea Drive and a white pickup with front-end damage.

Investigators said the pickup was traveling south on Delsea when the truck hit Louis in the road. She was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where she was listed in critical condition before dying from her injuries.

The 50-year-old Vineland man who drove the pickup was brought to Inspira Hospital in Elmer with minor injuries.
